Here it is – my last post of 2011 from my last shoot of the year. I wanted to get this one up before Jess and I jet off on vacation tomorrow for a few days of exploring/wandering and doing as little as possible.
Even though it may seem that we’ve had a warm run here in December, yesterday things definitely reverted back to what you’d expect this time of year, namely cold and windy! That didn’t stop me from having a great time with Taran and Robert bopping around Harvard Yard and Kenmore Square to grab some super fun engagement photos. Their early May wedding at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center is actually next up on my calendar, and if yesterday’s any indication, it’s going to be one great party.
We started off in Harvard Yard.

From there we hopped in the car and headed over to Fenway and Kenmore Square, where we grabbed a few of these favorites.

Part photographer, part tour guide. That was me Sunday afternoon with Heidi and Brian, and it couldn’t have been more fun. A Wisconsin native, Heidi first e-mailed me back in March and told me about the destination Maine wedding her and Brian are planning for next summer. Sunday, when I asked them, “Why Maine?” there really was no answer, they just thought it sounded like cool place to get married and neither had been there before. Now that’s a sense of adventure I can fully embrace.
They were in Maine for the week finalizing some plans for the wedding and taking a bit of a mini-vacation, and before they headed back home we spent a few hours bumming around Boston making some engagement photos.

Heidi and Brian are both avid bikers, so they rented this cool tandem bike for part of the shoot. After watching them ride it a few laps around Christoper Columbus Park, I can attest that it’s definitely not as easy as it looks!

And one cool floating ring shot to close:

One of the most enjoyable parts of what I do is when one favorite former clients refers another – chances are if the referrer was awesome, well, their friends will be awesome too. That’s what happened with Colleen and Matt. I first heard from Colleen last fall when she e-mailed and said she was a friend of Mel’s. We got to talking and when she told me that her fiance Matt used to play minor league baseball I knew we’d be a good fit. Thing is, Colleen and Matt live in Philly, so until yesterday, we hadn’t had a chance to actually connect faces with e-mail addresses. With Colleen’s little brother starting his freshman year at Emerson this week, and their wedding at Saint Clements Castle (check out the site, you can’t go wrong with a Castle) quickly approaching, the timing was perfect for a quick engagement shoot around the city. The stunning sunset was the icing on the cake.
