Doug Levy is a former professional baseball umpire turned wedding and portrait photographer. Doug attended umpire school after graduating from Syracuse in 2003 and spent six seasons on the field, reaching the AAA level before deciding a lifetime of 7:05 starts wasn't for him. He lives outside Boston with his wife Jessica and miniature schnauzer Bentley.
It’s always awesome when a couple books you over the phone, then turn out to be even more awesome in person. That’s Allie and Chris for you. I met them last night near their North End apartment for some engagement photos that included a brief detour at the end and some serious gale force winds in Piers Park. Looking forward to their September wedding at Vermont’s Hubbell Homestead.
When our initial location idea for a sunset photo of Boston’s skyline got, um, commandeered by the Boston Fire Department, Ali and Chris and I headed over to Piers Park instead, where I’d say the results worked out pretty well. More to come this week from their downtown engagement shoot.
There are some distinct advantages to this heat wave of a winter we’re having, and photographically, perhaps the best part is the ability to do outdoors engagement shoots without risking frostbite. Sunday afternoon Jess, Bentley and I met up with Jen, Brooke and their little guy Sammy at Mount Hope Farm where they’ll be married Memorial Day weekend. Even in the few moments we did get cold, I reminded myself, “Hey, we could easily be shooting in 2 feet of snow right now!” Listening to Jen describe their plans for May made me wish it was wedding season already (it’s been correctly said I have the patience of a flea).
