A few months back when I delivered Julie and Rich’s wedding photos, I noticed the photos on the website for Julie’s pilates studio didn’t quite reflect the proper level of awesome.  Not bad by any means, but I thought it would be fun to kick things up a notch or two. After a couple months of throwing ideas around, yesterday I headed over to her studio to spend some time with Julie and her students.

Now I’ve always been a workout nut, but have had zero exposure to pilates before yesterday, and I have to say, I was very impressed. I guess I really shouldn’t have been surprised, Julie has to be in better shape than 99% of the people you meet, but by the end of the shoot I had a whole new respect for pilates-based workouts. A few of my favorite images:

I don’t shoot a ton of kids and families, but with this being the slower time of year for weddings I’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with a few very fun families of late and wanted to share some of my favorite images from those shoots. I already blogged some of these first ones a few months back, but wanted to include them in a more all encompassing family portrait post.

It’s a little crazy when friends you’ve known since sixth grade start having kids (in my mind we’re totally not old enough to have children!), but I had a blast hanging out with Becca, Jerry and Madelyn a while back.

Becca introduced me to the Lipscombs, and I had a great time hanging out with Elizabeth, Stephen and James. All these kids were so smiley!

Finally this past Sunday I was fortunate enough to spend my morning with the Galvin’s and their little guy Connor.

It’s hard to believe there are only two weeks left in 2011, I feel like yesterday I was writing my “Best of 2010″ blog posts. I wanted to kick off my annual series today with one of my favorite subjects, rings. A quick glimpse into how my brain works – driving home from the gym last week, an idea for a killer ring shot for Heidi and Brian’s wedding popped into my head. Their wedding is in June. Of 2012. And because I know Heidi will read this – no clues, you’ll just have to wait and see.

Stay tuned in the next week or so for the rest of the Best Of series, but without further adieu, here are my favorite ring shots from 2011.
